Five Lessons from My Boudoir Shoot

bou·doir noun ˈbü-ˌdwär, ˈbu̇-, ˌbü-ˈ, ˌbu̇-ˈ
* a woman’s bedroom or private room for dressing or resting

A few ladies from our support group gathered to participate in a boudoir photo shoot.

Yes, boudoir photo shoot.

Yes, nagpa-photo shoot ako.

Yes, nagpa-boudoir photo shoot ako. Hahaha!

And no, hindi ko na siya uulitin uli.

Friends, ever supportive that they are, loved the idea that I had subjected myself to a boudoir shoot. Yes, ‘subjected’ talaga is the right word. 🙂

It’s so unlike me as I’ve never had my portrait taken professionally. I can be very shy, as well, and I don’t like drawing attention to myself. But when the ladies from our support group said they are interested in a boudoir session, I threw caution to the wind and said, “what the heck!”

So what did I learn from this madness?

1. Modeling is difficult.
I have a newfound respect for models. That is hard work! My photo shoot was just 90 minutes long (with five wardrobe changes) and I was exhausted. Imagine doing this on a daily basis.

2. You are only young once.
I decided to have a boudoir shoot because I realized that I’m only young once. This is my version of YOLO (you only live once). YOYO is “You’re only young once.” I will never be this age again and I’d like to have a souvenir of myself being this young and sexy (feeling ko lang. Hahaha!)

Plus, if and when I get to have kids and grandchildren, they’ll think of me as “cool” for doing this. 🙂

3. Take a risk.
My friends know I like planning my life. I’m kinda ‘sigurista.’ I don’t like being out of control. But this boudoir shoot kinda loosened me up. No choice ka. You are forced to be sexy and seductive in front of other women…women you barely know.

4. Be comfortable with your own body.
You need to learn how to be comfortable with your own body. You can’t give that sexy/sensual vibe if you are not comfy with your body. Otherwise, huwag ka na magpa-boudoir.

5. Everybody deserves a chance to feel beautiful.
A  boudoir photo shoot gives you that chance to be all dolled up. Boudoir Le Blanc made me comfortable during the shoot. Ang saya din na paminsan-minsan ay nagiging fab and glamorous ka. 🙂

Thank you to Heather and Tooney for taking care of us. We really had a great time. Thanks din to the lovely ladies from our support group. I’m so happy to have shared that experience with you.

So, nasaan ang boudoir pics ko? No posting here, sorry. All photos will remain private. 🙂
