Thank You, 2014!

There are years that define you, years that will forever be etched in your heart. 2013 was one of those years. It was 2013 that changed the course of my life and opened new doors for me.

But 2014 is the year when I finally settled in my new life. I finally felt comfortable with my own skin and my status in life. I learned a lot about who I am, what I want in life, and who I want to be in my life.

I finally have that sense of balance, which eluded me since 2009. It is 2014 that really defined who Roche is.

When I look back in the last two years, I still can’t believe how far I’ve come. I can still see the old Roche but I also see how much I have grown. I can still remember a lot from my old life but, at the same time, these memories have started to fade.

Now I understand how annulled women don’t remember much of what they’ve gone through. Memories just fade over time.

And so I face 2015 with more joy, more excitement, and more love. The best is yet to come.

Here’s an apt quote for the last two years:

Sometimes the hardest storms to get through are the ones your soul needs most. And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive.

But, survive, you did. And one thing is certain: When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what the storm’s all about. ~ Haruki Murakami

10 Questions

I first did this last year in my secret blog. 🙂 Inside the Actor’s Studio is a show hosted by James Lipton. He interviews actors and actresses to understand their methods and processes. It is like a seminar for the students of the Actors Studio Drama School.

I used to watch this when it was still aired on cable. What I remember most about this show is the 10 questions he asks his guests before the show ends.

The 10 questions are called the Pivot Questionnaire, developed by French journalist Bernard Pivot. This is my favorite portion of the show because it gives an insight on the person behind the celebrity.

So for 2014, here are my 10 questions (and answers):

1. What is your favorite word?
Balance (last year was faith)

2. What is your least favorite word?
Late (last year was hate)

3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Advancement (last year was travel)

4. What turns you off?
Cowardice (last year was change)

5. What is your favorite curse word?
Lech (last year was fuck)

6. What sound or noise do you love?
That ping from Facebook (last year was laughter)

7. What sound or noise do you hate?
Fire alarm of our condo building (last year was someone’s laughter)

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Teacher (same as last year)

9. What profession would you not like to do?
Journalist (same as last year)

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
You have been faithful.
